Griffin Catalyst Expands Resources for Miami Children and Families with $5 Million Gift to Lotus House

Griffin Catalyst is helping expand opportunity for children and families in Miami through a $5 million gift to Lotus House, the nation’s largest women’s homeless shelter and a nationally recognized model for holistic support services.

The gift was announced by Lotus House in conjunction with the opening of its Children’s Village, a first-of-its-kind, 71,000-square-foot education and resource center that brings together more than a dozen nonprofits to provide year-round educational, therapeutic, health, and social services for children and families experiencing homelessness or housing instability, as well as those from the surrounding Overtown community.

Located across from Lotus House’s 500-bed shelter, the Children’s Village offers early childhood education, after-school and summer programming, mental health and trauma-informed services, healthcare support, legal services, financial literacy resources, and more—all under one roof.

“The Children’s Village is a powerful example of how communities can come together to create lasting change. When we invest in children, we invest in the future of our city — in the ideas, talent, and potential that will define Miami for generations to come. Lotus House is helping to ensure that every child has the foundation to dream boldly and achieve their full promise, and I’m committed to supporting this mission.””

Since its founding in 2006, Lotus House has served more than 13,500 women, youth, and children, with more than 86 percent of guests successfully exiting shelter into stable housing last year. The Children’s Village builds on this impact by focusing on prevention and long-term stability—strengthening families and expanding access to critical educational and therapeutic supports.
