Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has announced that its state-of-the-art cancer care pavilion currently under construction will be named The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. The new building has been thoughtfully designed to meet the growing cancer care needs of the future—including advanced technology to care for patients, leading-edge robotics, digital infrastructure, and enhanced operating and procedure suites.

In December 2023, MSK announced that Ken had made a landmark gift to extend the reach and broaden the impact of MSK’s innovative, pioneering approach to cancer treatment and patient care.

“Ken’s generosity is unparalleled in its impact on our organization and our ability to advance MSK’s mission of ending cancer for life,” said Selwyn M. Vickers, MD, FACS, MSK’s President and CEO. “Through his landmark contribution, Ken is improving the lives of people across New York City and around the world, helping MSK continue providing world-class, leading-edge cancer care as the field advances and the incidence of cancer increases. We are deeply grateful for his exceptional contribution.”

“The extraordinary team at MSK is saving lives every single day, offering not only world-class medical care but also compassion, dignity, and hope to the patients and families facing the challenges of cancer. The new Pavilion ensures that MSK’s physicians, scientists, nurses, and staff have the world-class facilities required to meet the evolving needs of cancer patients. I am honored to support their life-changing work.”

Located on York Avenue between East 66th and East 67th Streets in New York City, The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at MSK will be devoted exclusively to patient care—and it comes at a pivotal time. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that cancer cases will rise by nearly 50% by 2050, which could mean more than 60,000 people diagnosed by that date with the disease in New York City alone.

The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion at MSK is designed to help meet the growing need for cancer care.

Groundbreaking is slated for later this year, with completion expected by 2030.

Ken has long been committed to pushing the frontiers of science and medicine to drive progress and improve lives. In addition to his landmark contribution to MSK, his efforts have included major contributions to the University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Baptist Health Foundation, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation, among others.
