Building the Future of Neuroscience Research and Care at Baptist Health
During the groundbreaking, Baptist Health announced an additional $25 million gift from Ken Griffin, bringing his total support for neuroscience at Baptist Health to $75 million. Building on his $50 million gift in 2024, the expanded support will also establish a new Neuroscience Institute Transformational Impact Fund to advance research, innovation, education, and prevention.
“Today we celebrate what makes Baptist Health truly special —the hope it creates for all of us. The hope that this extraordinary team at Baptist Health gives to patients and families living with neurological disease. And the hope that, in the years to come, this team's research will continue to find ways to diminish — and ultimately end — the suffering inflicted by neurological disease. We are deeply fortunate to have one of the nation’s leading neuroscience programs right here in Miami.”
Located on Baptist Health’s main campus, the 197,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in early 2029. The new building will bring clinical care and research together under one roof, creating additional space for specialized providers, clinical trials, and the use of cutting-edge technologies to treat complex neurological conditions.
The new facility will enable the Institute to add 16 sub-specialty providers, increase the number of exam rooms, and create Baptist Health’s first academic lecture theater. It will also include outpatient physical, speech, and occupational therapy and rehabilitation, as well as neuroinfusion services.
“Today marks a significant milestone for Baptist Health, Kenneth C. Griffin Neuroscience Institute, and the patients we serve, as we celebrate the groundbreaking of a world-class neuroscience facility and Ken Griffin’s extraordinary $75 million total gift to the future of neuroscience. Ken’s generosity will help us accelerate research and innovation, educate the next generation of neuroscience leaders, advance prevention and expand access to highly specialized brain and spine care. We are deeply grateful for his confidence in Baptist Health and his belief in what we can accomplish together.”
The project reflects Ken’s longstanding commitment to supporting initiatives that help people live longer, healthier lives.
