Advancing the Future of Cancer Care at Memorial Sloan Kettering

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) has broken ground on the Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion, a transformative new inpatient facility that will expand the institution's capacity to deliver world-class cancer care and meet the growing needs of patients for generations to come.

Named in recognition of Griffin Catalyst Founder Ken Griffin’s landmark gift to support clinical innovation at MSK, the new pavilion represents a major investment in the future of cancer treatment, research, and patient care. Located on MSK’s Manhattan campus, the facility is expected to begin serving patients in 2030.

The Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion is being designed to help address a projected 50% increase in cancer incidence by 2050. The state-of-the-art inpatient facility will feature flexible clinical space, advanced digital infrastructure, and seamless integration with MSK’s main hospital to support coordinated, patient-centered care.

“The extraordinary team at MSK is saving lives every single day, offering not only world-class medical care but also compassion, dignity, and hope to the patients and families facing the challenges of cancer. The new Pavilion ensures that MSK's physicians, scientists, nurses, and staff have the world-class facilities required to meet the evolving needs of cancer patients. I am honored to support their life-changing work.”

The groundbreaking marks an important milestone in MSK’s efforts to expand access to cutting-edge care while preparing for the future needs of patients across New York and beyond.

“We are deeply grateful to Ken for his extraordinary partnership and vision,” said Dr. Selwyn M. Vickers, president and CEO of MSK. “His generosity is a driving force behind our ability to build the Griffin Pavilion—a facility that will help advance MSK’s mission of ending cancer for life by meeting the needs of today’s patients and preparing for those of tomorrow.”

The project reflects Ken’s broader commitment to supporting institutions that expand opportunity, improve lives, and drive innovation. By investing in the future of cancer care, the Kenneth C. Griffin Pavilion will help ensure that patients have access to the highest levels of treatment, technology, and compassionate care for decades to come.
