TIME100 Philanthropy: Ken Griffin
Appearing alongside other notable philanthropists, including Michael Bloomberg, Warren Buffett, Alice Walton, and Melinda French Gates, Ken is hailed for his “high-impact giving.” The TIME profile, which appears in full below, notes that Ken’s “approach to philanthropy has a lot in common with the strategy he pursues at Citadel, the highly successful hedge fund company he founded in 1990: Both are focused on evidence-based initiatives with the potential to deliver high-impact, scalable results.”
Ken says, “I want to be seen first and foremost as a person who supports problem solvers. If we’re going to unleash opportunity in this country and restore greatness across America, we’re going to need countless problem solvers.”
TIME CEO Jessica Sibley says, “The first-ever TIME100 Philanthropy list spotlights the people and ideas shaping the future of giving. At this pivotal moment, we are proud to honor those whose vision is redefining what it means to lead with purpose and inspiring collective action to move us forward.”
Later this week, Ken will be among a handful of honorees delivering remarks at the TIME100 Impact Dinner: Leaders Shaping the Future of Philanthropy.
The full TIME100 Philanthropy list will appear in the June 9, 2025, issue of TIME and is available online now:
